A long time ago when I first started an Aerial-i page on Facebook, I was rather expectant as to how the number of followers would grow very quickly.Very probably I was blinded by the Flickr hits that I am lucky to receive each day.
The first of my hard-earned (much harder than I first appreciated!) milestones is now approaching - 500 likes. 500 is not big number in Facebook fan page terms when looking at the global picture, but it is a valuable number to me as it hopefully means that at least 500 people out there also get some pleasure from what I really enjoy doing.
The dawn of the quadcopter era seems to have accelerated things somewhat and I'm very much enjoying the 'access all areas' opportunities it now brings. In particular, I'm enjoying being able to share photos like the one in Alderney below where we are hovering over the sea, looking back at the magnificent coastline on our doorstep. Some people say I'm mad to fly over the sea like this but I trust the technology and this is the kind of stuff that it is built for. All my camera gear gets worked hard and same goes for the Phantom quadcopter.
This weekend sees my first visit to Jersey of the year. I absolutely cannot wait to unleash the Phantom (and kites) into the Jersey skies. And with a little luck and sharing of the results, I can scoop up some more fans from across the water and clear the first 500 milestone.
The 500 milestone triggers my first thank-you giveaway of a 40x30cm mounted gallery print of one lucky follower's choosing. Wherever you may be in the world.
Thanks for following. It's a great motivator to receive your likes and comments.
